The Light Company Sergeant, unlike those of other companies, carries a musket and bayonet, just like the men. The bayonet was seventeen inches long and had a triangular blade. This meant that the wound it inflicted would be difficult to close. Hand to hand fighting in the period was rare, however, as one side would usually give ground against a determined attack. The bayonet scabbard is worn on the crossbelt in a leather scabbard with a brass tip.
